My current design work embodies a metaphorical interpretation of consumerism. On the last couple years I have been intrigued by the over consumption and excessive production of short-lived or disposable items. What began as a personal fascination for packaging and everyday objects, becomes self-awareness of over-consumption and waste, and finally a deep desire to use my design to express this all, translated into images that resonate questions about the ephemeral trajectory of these objects. My work presents a selection of ordinary objects / everyday commonalities, covered with white paint depicting the blind unawareness involved in our society. In order to enhance their resonance, these objects are photographed on white background (white on white), exploring the aesthetic aspects and underscoring their inherent meanings. With influences as diverse as Andy Warhol, Heidi Cody, Haim Steinback, Conrad Bakker, Chris Jordan and Tony Cragg, new insights are synthesized from them all, based on pop culture, consumerism and objectification. This work aimes to be a message about unconscious behaviors in our everyday lives, leaving it to the viewer to draw conclusions about the consequences from our habits.
